Friday was a public holiday for Australia Day so it has been a long weekend.
Australia Day is Australia's official national day, 26th January. It commemorates the landing of the First Fleet in Sydney Cove on that day in 1788. Aboriginal Australians however, call the day "Invasion Day" as they regard it as celebrating the decimation of their people. There are loads of festivals and fireworks around the city.
On Saturday, I went to the Womens Tennis Final to see Serena Williams become the first unseeded player in 29 years to win the trophy by dismantling Russian No.1 seed Maria Sharapova 6-1 6-2. Look at the video I put together, it may take a while to download if you have a slow connection.
