Almost Famous

manchester united kingdom

I have been trying to get to Almost Famous in Manchester for over a year now to try the burgers after hearing so many people claim they are the best they have ever tasted. As many people know I have been living in GBK in Leeds for the past year and apparently Almost Famous knocks them out of the park.

I have been put off by the lack of menu on the website, no bookings allowed and the fact that the place is so secret it does not even have a sign above the door.

I went armed with my map app and the postcode and followed some people up a narrow staircase hoping this was the place and I was not going to reach the top and find myself in an office. On the way out a bouncer and rope appeared which you can see in my picture, I am not sure how big the queues are later but a bouncer on a burger bar is new to me. Thankfully I got in before he could inspect my footwear and impose the usual dress code that all bouncers are obsessed with.

I got a table and joined a queue which seemed to go right around the room waiting to order. It was only a quarter past twelve so how early do you get there to avoid queuing. I ordered my drink and was giving a jam jar as a glass which I was hesitant to use at first but as soon as I started eating I was raising my jam jar to my lips as if it was the norm.

To the burgers, I like a brioche bun, it makes all the difference. The burgers were a bit thin for my liking but very tasty. They were not as messy as GBK but the menu is very small and is not for fussy eaters.

I am going back again this week to sample some of the other items on the menu so expect another review, I found after 1PM it quietened down so I will probably leave it till then to sample the rest of the menu.
