As Australia Day fell on a weekend the public holiday has carried across to Monday so today is a public holiday.
After yesterdays disappointing trip to the beach, I packed up my beach chair and headed to Sandringham Beach.
Sandringham Beach is one of the furthest beaches you can get to by train and if you walk about 10 minutes away from the station the water is so clear and it is not as busy.
I got there around 10am and stayed till about 5pm when I came home and did another 2 hours sat on my balcony drinking copious amounts of water.
When I was on the beach I was eating my food from my cool bag and it was working really well, everything was coming out nice and cold.
In the afternoon I had a sandwich and I was thinking it tasted a bit funny but did not think anything more about it until I took out a chocolate bar and it was completely melted.
As a result of this I had to take Tuesday off work as I felt so sick.
It must have been a combination of a bad sandwich and heat exhaustion with some dehydration thrown in for good measure.
