I have been commuting now for four days from Manchester to Leeds and it has got harder as the week progressed. After commuting for 4 days I decided to stay in Leeds on Thursday night at the hotel I stayed in last week.
At about 4PM a purge surge hit Leeds and we lost power in the office for about 15 minutes. Later an email was sent around the office saying the trains were all delayed and then it got worse.
As it got later and offices emptied people headed towards the station. At this point there were no trains running and the station quickly became full and a queue started to form outside.
It was very lucky of me to have had this room booked and not had to battle all night to get back to Manchester only to return in the morning.
I went out for lunch today with the office so we could meet people we don't work with. It was great, a fiver for fish,chips and mushy peas and even a Manchester City fan.
