I went to my first Melbourne Victory game against Perth Glory last night at AAMI Park which is a thirty thousand capacity stadium built for the football. We used to play at the Etihad Stadium which has a capacity of fifty three thousand seats but it was always empty so lacked any atmosphere. The seats are close to the pitch and reminded me of going to QPR where you can practically touch the players.
The quality of football was very poor compared to what I have grown up with. I have been spoilt watching the English Premier League home and away but I expected the quality to have improved in the two years I was out of the country. I have been told that was the second string squad so hopefully they will improve when they get into the finals.
We lost 2-3 in injury time so at least I got to see five goals, I had a great seat right on the halfway line so I could see all the action close up.
